Friends and family of the Democratic Party and the Clinton County Democratic Women (CCDW) are invited to a movie matinee!
On September 15, the CCDW, an affiliate of the Federation of Democratic Women, will offer a showing of Ironed Jawed Angels, starring Julia Ormond, Frances O’Connor, Hilary Swank and Angelica Huston.
This is a HBO original movie about fiery American suffragists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns who light a fire under the older women leaders in Washington D.C. Sacrificing their health and romantic relationships, these women were imprisoned after picketing war-time president Woodrow Wilson, but endured to see the results of their efforts.
The movie will be shown at the Central PA Auto Auction, located at 41 Airstrip Dr., Mill Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m., with the movie beginning at 2 p.m.
Concessions will be available, and proceeds will benefit the CCDW Political Action Committee.
Popcorn and an open soda fountain will be provided.
CCDW members are encouraged to donate items toward the experience, such as a bottle of wine; a case of bottled water; individually-wrapped snacks, such as chips, nuts, veggies, cheese, or candy. The drinks and snacks will be offered to the movie goers for donations.
