What to expect at the polls on May 21

May 21, 2019, is not just a typical Primary Election where voters’ ballots determine which candidates will move on to the November General Election.

May 21 is also a Special Election where voters will select the next U.S. Congressman to represent the 12th Congressional District.

Marc Friedenberg is the Democratic nominee to replace Tom Marino in the U.S. Congress. He needs your vote!

Friedenberg serves as an assistant teaching professor at Penn State and teaches cybersecurity and cyberlaw courses. A Columbia Law School and Penn State graduate, Friedenberg was born in northeast Philadelphia and now lives with his wife and two young daughters in State College. He is eager to bring jobs to North Central Pennsylvania, fight for education, defend healthcare and protect the environment.

Also on the May 21 ballot

PA Superior Court

Three Democrats are vying for only two open seats. Voters will only be able to vote for two.

Candidates on the Democrat ballot include Amanda Green-Hawkins, Beth Tarasi and Daniel McCaffery.

County Commissioner

Incumbent Paul Conklin and Angela Harding are the two Democrats seeking the party’s nomination to move forward to the November ballot. Voters may vote for two candidates in this race.

County Sheriff

Kerry Stover is seeking another 4-year term as county sheriff and is running unopposed.

County Auditors

Incumbent Michelle Crowell is the only Democrat to file a petition to run for a county auditor position.

District Attorney

Dave Strouse is seeking another four-year term as district attorney. He is unopposed.

County Prothonotary

Incumbent Marie Vilello is seeking another term as county prothonotary. She is unopposed in the primary.

Register & Recorder

No Democrats filed a petition to serve as Register & Recorder. Voters may submit write-ins.

Municipal
