Penn State professor and lawyer Marc Friedenberg, the Democratic nominee for the position, will have an opportunity to express his views to the public, while drawing a distinction between himself and his opposition, state Rep. Fred Keller of Snyder County, the Republican nominee.

The first forum will be held on April 12 at 8 a.m. at the Country Cupboard, 101 Hafer Road, Lewisburg. The event is being sponsored by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce. This event is being billed as a “Meet the Candidates” opportunity.

On May 2, WVIA-TV will televise a debate between the two candidates at 8 p.m. The event will kick off at 8 p.m. at the WVIA-TV station, 100 WVIA Way, Pittston (Jenkins Township). The debate broadcast live on VIA TV, radio and streamed live at wvia.org. The moderator for the debate will be VIA’s Larry Vojtko.

Seating in the live audience for the debate is available and free, but very limited. To  reserve a seat, click here.

Another debate is being planned in Tioga County, but the organizers are awaiting official confirmation from the Republican candidate’s campaign. That Congressional candidates forum is currently slated to take place on Thursday, May 16, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tioga County Fairgrounds in Whitneyville.

The 12th Congressional District consists of Bradford, part of Centre, Clinton, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, part of Northumberland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Union, and Wyoming counties.

The successor in the May 21 Special Election will replace former Rep. Tom Marino of Lycoming County, who resigned Jan. 23. Unlike the Primary Election, which coincides with this Special Election, members of all parties may vote in the Special Election for the 12th Congressional District seat.
