By Dan Reeder
I write this letter to weigh in on a recent Letter to the Editor that cited the Preamble to the United States Constitution, “We the people.” I agree with the incredible significance of this seemingly simple statement but would hasten to point out that the current occupant of the Oval Office lost the 2016 election by more than 3,000,000 votes cast by the people. By what stretch of the imagination does this demonstrate the power of the people?
Let’s get back to “We the people.” On May 21st, we have the opportunity to exercise that right when we choose a representative for the 12th Congressional District. This is a special election in which all registered voters, regardless of party, can vote.
Marc Friedenberg will work to protect our constitutional rights as well as our environment which is so vital for future prosperity. He will be a staunch advocate for economic progress by fighting to bring broadband internet coverage to our district. He will fight to bring us the jobs of the future. He lives nearby and has been here often in Clinton County to listen and to share his ideas. He knows us!
Be the we in “We the people.” Vote on May 21st and vote in the best interest of the 12th District, Pennsylvania, our great country, and yourself. Vote for Marc Friedenberg. I, too, urge everyone to flock to the polls!
Dan Reeder is the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee representative from Clinton County.
