Petition-signing events planned for March 1 and March 2

Help Democrats get on the May 21 Primary Election ballot by joining us at an upcoming event and signing candidates’ petitions.

In addition to the Soup & Sign event taking place on February 26, there will be two additional events featuring candidates, where attendees can sign petitions.

Pizzelles, Popcorn & Petitions

Friday, March 1: 6-8 p.m.
Renovo Borough

This second signing event will be held in Renovo, at the Sons and Daughters of Italy located at 111 Twelfth Street. Attendees will gather in the social room in the back and will have an opportunity to meet candidates, as well as fellow Democrats.

Candidates & Camaraderie

Saturday, March 2: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Avis Borough

Then, this third petition-signing event will be held at the Liberty Book Shop located at 1 East Park Street in Avis.  Several candidates will be there with their petitions and light snacks will be provided.

Individuals seeking office must circulate petitions to collect signatures of people supporting their candidacy for office in order to be placed on the election ballot. These petitions must be circulated during a certain time frame, from February 19 to March 12 for the 2019 Primary Election. The petitions are filed with the county Election Office.

Those signing petitions must live in the respective municipality for municipal candidates and live in any Clinton County voting precinct to sign petitions for our county-wide offices.  Individuals may sign two (2) petitions for county commissioner and two (2) petitions for Lock Haven City Council. For all other municipal and county positions, signers may only complete one petition per race. For Superior Court candidates, individuals may only sign two of the petitions, although there are currently four Democrats in that race.
