Despite the theme showing that opponents of Democrats seeking office this November are refusing to hold forums or debates, the Democratic nominees are planning to show up and talk to voters about the issues facing them and how they hope to make a difference once elected.
Three October events have been announced – all in Centre County – and they will feature candidates seeking to represent Clinton County.
Mike Hanna Jr., candidate for PA’s 76th House District, and Marc Friedenberg, candidate for Pennsylvania’s 12th U.S. Congressional District, have both announced they will participate.
Various news outlets have lamented the fact that those challenging the Democratic nominees are refusing to respond to requests for participation. (Sources: The Record-Online, The Express, The Centre Daily Times.) In fact, news outlets in Clinton County were working together to try to plan a 76th District candidates forum in Lock Haven, but that fell through.
“It’s sad that my opponent won’t take the time to debate and discuss the issues that most impact us in the 76th district,” Hanna Jr. said on Facebook.
Similarly, Marc Friedenberg has vented his frustration with not being able to come face to face with his opponent in recent weeks by taking a “No Debate Town Hall Tour.” In one day, he visited four counties in the 12th Congressional District, meeting with voters and addressing their questions and concerns.
Fortunately, constituents of PA’s 76th House District and 12th Congressional District will have opportunities to at least hear from some of the candidates seeking office this November 6 in the three upcoming events.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
