Are you a Democrat interested in getting more involved in your community?
Perhaps you’ve been frustrated with the way things are going politically. Or, maybe you would like to spend some time with like-minded individuals and help promote policies you agree with.
Consider becoming a committee person to represent your community on the Clinton County Democratic Committee (CCDC).
The goal is to have each precinct of Clinton County fairly represented in the party.
The CCDC is accepting letters of interest from individuals living in precincts without a committee person. (See if your precinct has a vacant committee seat in the listing below.)
Those interested in learning more should contact us by Monday, June 25, 2018, to learn more.
ABOUT BEING A COMMITTEE PERSON
Every four years, coinciding with the Pennsylvania gubernatorial election, voters in each of Clinton County’s 34 precincts are able to vote in the Primary Election for one man and one woman to represent their precinct on the CCDC.
When vacancies exist, either due to no one running or resignations, the CCDC Executive Committee and Chairperson may appoint individuals to fill the vacant seats.
Committee people are simply tasked with attending the CCDC meetings, held the fourth Thursday of each month except November and December at 6 p.m., currently at the Ross Library in Lock Haven. (And it’s OK for members to miss a couple meetings, or to appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf.)
Committee people can vote on matters before the CCDC – from bylaws, to approval of meeting minutes, to determining how CCDC funds are spent. In addition, committee people may have interest in volunteering at events, riding on parade floats, putting out election signs or handing out election information or canvassing.
