More than 200 turn out for No Kings protest in Lock Haven

The rain did not stop more than 200 people from turning out for the No Kings protest in Clinton County on June 14.

Part of the national movement that day, which saw an estimated 13 million participants nationwide, the mass protest was aimed at Donald Trump, who turned a planned military celebration into a $46 million dollar birthday parade. The No Kings website states: “In America, we don’t do kings. They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings.”

The Lock Haven event was the largest local rally to date. It was held at Triangle Park.

People held handmade signs with varying messages protesting the administration’s disregard for the law, individual rights, and America’s ideals.

“No Kings! We the people defend the Constitution!”

“Worried about criminals, but made one your president!”

“No KKKings in America!”

“Proud to be an American. Stop chaos, stop cruelty.”

“Who would Jesus deport?”

“$45 million for a birthday parade while 33,000+ veterans homeless.”

“It was pouring but worth it to see so many people out to defend democracy!!” said Bre Brannan, chair of the Clinton County Democratic Committee Chair, which organized the peaceful demonstration.
